TWL vs SAD
Oh boy, Seek and Destroy were the unquestionable leaders in the division and we were in the lower half – Not one TWL member really believed that we’d be able to score a win but we’d make ‘em pay dearly. Did Guybrush Threepwood ever fail to conquer the odds? Did he ever give up? Hell no!
(Actually thanks to all the saves and reloads he never gave up, I on the other hand had to due to bedtimes and such. )
Two praccs, one fine ATC strategy meeting later it was of for a TK party before game start. Ever notice that during those TK parties there always seem to be the same ppl scoring the lowest negative numbers? Prolly clan traitors venting their desires…
Gulf of Oman – TWL as US
Tanker time! Huzzah! Our strategy called for me to stick around the house at first to guard the commanders virginity as a mean ol’ daddy with a daughter (Tubbe) in cut off jeans shorts, a sleeveless blouse, ponytails and a reputation for liking Fords.
The rest of the squad drove, ran in a disorderly fashion to the first flag at the railroads where there was another confusion as nobody capped the flag for 10-20 seconds…We lost initiative and SAD was eager to exploit, the tank nosing around the railroad cars and popping occasional shots at me or the TWL’ers around the flag. SAD infantry began harassing the flag, graying and taking it but loosing it again.
Back and forth it went with me sitting on the main road into the base and shooting the occasional truck or inf hazarding a visit. It got quite hairy a few times as SAD managed to get close or into the base though they never got the chance to challenge the flag before we managed to hunt them down. Very very irritating AT’s they had though. Even a bull elephant will go down if enough mosquitoes suck his blood out…And many were the times when they came sneaking in the village or in support of their tank. Out again and taking position, twice aiding the railroad flag by hunting down the already smoking SAD tank that our own AT’s had popped a cpl of times. Our original plan to push forwards never seemed to get off the ground, some TWL member prolly wanted to buy one of those houses or something.. In the end they had killed more, kept us locked on the south side of the railroad and won the round. Nicely played SAD!
Net result: SAD 118 vs 60 TWL
Gulf of Oman – TWL as Mec
Again, tanker time! Again, sentry duty! But this time at the first flag closest to Mec base, nice to see I’m moving up in the world. Anyhow we began by rolling out the trucks and I headed for the grey flag, before I had capped it though cries went out, “Incoming to main, jeep!”. Eyeing the overhead radar I stayed put for about five more seconds then raced back home while the flag was still uncapped, shooting one of the raiders and returning to capture it at last.
Okaaaay, back to the same scenario as last time. Locked on either side of the railroad, eh? SAD didn’t like that so they began throwing infantry forwards and up on the lower rooftops to serve as ‘safe’ spawnpoints and hunta-tank-killaz. Luckily we had some experience with this from the praccs so we had Flamingo already on the rooftops and he did a good job cleaning them out and keeping the enemy tank damaged along with the other TWL AT’s. No self respecting tanker wants to attack with a 30% damaged tank, hence – longrange AT shots.
Suddenly we had SAD inf’s in the main, the flag turned grey and they managed to raise the US colours! Ah! We only had the first town flag left! Their tank began nosing forwards but were kept at bay oncemore, putting a cpl of rounds into each other and then retreating. The seconds went by with at least five TWL infs running around our former base and in under a minute we got it back, one more saw the death of the last SAD…Tense!
It got tense again as one of our Bad Boy Buggy squad managed to get through to the SAD main and started churning out eager TWL infs. Believe it or not but we got the flag – whoohoo! SAD respawned at the railroad flag, looking really mean with a ‘There is no retreat!’ tactic and pushed us right back out of their main.
Net result: SAD 120 vs 115 TWL
Sweet mercy what a round that last one was! Utterly tense and extremely fun to play! Tubbe our commander performed wonderfully, spotting infs and ordering us around. Not to mention the steady continuous drop of supply boxes for my tank. Our experiment with giving the Commander more control over the entire team seems to have payed off. Disciplined play, good TS order…ah, it worked nicely. This was perhaps TWL’s finest (most efficient) 8 vs 8 round yet. SAD however were even better, kudo’s to you.
Songhua: TWL as US
With high morale we leapt to action, this time I had no tank but got a nice shiny star on the minimap instead. Interesting to write a report from commanders view, little did I know just how hot it’d get around the main. Our strategy did not employ the Blackhawk after the first cpl of minutes and for that we payed – We’ve got a score to settle with the noob that ‘helped’ us with that advise…
Scans lit up the screen after having c4’ed the main flag, hmm…SAD had gotten the northern middle flag first. US always does since it’s a shorter run from their main. Our AT’s and APC’s faced off with theirs and our paratroops got the south middle flag unopposed. Lit the threat board on the china flying whale of a chopper and chased it off, dropped a supply to aid our APC’s only to watch the entire attack force being wiped out. Not good.
Artillery rained down on me, went flying and when I got back to life I returned to same favour with a vengeance on their commander. In their AA site. We began locking horns at the middle village but didn’t make much headway there, instead I observed a gathering of infs and the two APC’s. SAD made the push for the US main and managed to capture our blackhawk. That was catastrophic…it was suicide to even go near the AA, SAD inf dropped down and started capping the main flag from the AA roof, I had to call four-five ppl back to main but in the end we lost it after some very intense infantry action. At one time we had only Nanna alive, she turned squad lead but nearly hosed the entire team down as four-five ppl spawned all around her! Hehe. Respawning at the temple, we only got about a minutes breather before SAD had gotten the Blackhawk, APC’s and inf in position. In short order they capped the flag and zeroed us.
Net result: SAD 164 vs 0 TWL
Songhua: TWL as China
AAARGH…frustration was high and morale was down, tactics were questioned but we stuck to the game plan we’d laid down earlier. SAD was kinda slow for some reason, maybe they’d planned it that way as the US has a long distance to travel but anyhow we capped both middle flags and felt uneasy about what was to come. I’d c4’ed the flag and headed up for the AA site.
Some fighting ensued in the middle but the real kicker was that SAD began a steady stream of inf attack on china main from the blackhawk. I got shot out of the AA pretty easily and had to respawn at flag, calling home some troops to help fight of the threat. Had to resign the commander post and turn Squadlead, brought in the reinforcements and fought as a ‘common’ inf for a while. Turned commander again when the flag was ‘safe’ and spotted more infs in main. Chased them down, got killed, respawned and shot one. Meanwhile requests came streaming in for support on the battlefield but truth be told I was kept busy beyond belief. Fighting back up to the AA site, killing one SAD inf that tried to keep it covered I managed to get the blackhawk damaged enough to go away a brief minute. We respawned, Tubbe taking the AA and giving me chance to relocate and view the battlefield. Not good. We had main and the temple, our APC’s were slugging it out to the north of our main against their opposite numbers.
Before I could get the team organized there were infs in our main again, nicking a APC and raising hell. SAD really knew how to keep us busy! Overall I had no idea what happened in other parts of the map, in the end I had killed 11 SAD’s which actually put the frontline in the China main. It was very effective in disturbing our coordination.
Net result: SAD 135 vs 73 TWL
Overall: SAD 537 vs 248 TWL
What’s there to say? We made only one really bad mistake and that was not using the Blackhawk more. Learn from this readers, always use the blackhawk. Beyond that I could rant about how stupid the squad interface is – squadjumping is more or less an accepted part of play but there’s not one in TWL that doesn’t hate it. We want to play shoot ‘em games, not klick-the-right-button…EA, you’ve fucked up bad here.

Hoppsan. Tog och gjorde lite spionage, SaD 'Seek and Destroy' (det ska ju vara 'Search and destroy' men men) har spelat 39 wars i bf2, tagit 35 av dessa...de har klippt WBA, WWL, BOBEC för att nämna några bekanta namn. Innan de ska möta oss kör de en pracc den 18de och en till den 19de.
