The first official UN war report that solely belongs to me, muahaha - erhm. I mean I hope I will be worthy of Santa Mans legacy; he did name me trainee after all. InsanityClaus was The unparalleled reporter King in UN BF42, that’d make me…a prince? 
We did a PCW on this weeks maps but vXo proved they've outgrown us by a fair distance, beating us as soundly as the big boy in the playground who wants the fun toys. Ouch. Yet we took our teachings and improved the tactics, people say you learn more from failures then successes. Eager to show we had learned and were frothing at the bit we leapt to action with The Lost Legion!
PS: Once more I drew the tank lot...sometimes I wonder how the world looks without that little one-foot-square window frame...Other then that our primary pilot Hitman lost his place to a reserve on the lineup, we were afraid that would cost us.
Mashtuur City (TWL as US)
A beautiful day, we had ammo and lotsa nice rides to tear up the landscape with. Life is truly grand! We hopped on over to the northeast flag with almost all the infantry, the APC taking the 'recommended place' and me in tank acting as backup in the middle to help keep the southwest gray or counterattack the TLL wave. First run was to the south, a cpl of AT shots and a tank round sorted out the first wave, the TLL second wave however seized the northeast flag and kept it all through the first round.
Febben was our on station AT service man on the southeast flag and had a helluva fun time blowing up minivans and other recreational vehicles (a tank) aided by our APC-chick Nanna.
With a solid hold on two flags each it was kinda hard for both teams to get things going (I had a nice view of the city square and didn’t take kindly to trespassers) and attack but eventually TLL did attack! About two thirds through the match we couldn’t keep them back from our main base and the call went out to respawn home, I lost the tank to a concerted effort from APC, Tank and three infs (thanks to the teammates help on the TOW only one inf survived however) and we began getting enemy infantry close to main! It was hairy for a while but TWL managed to sort it out and push them back. The last minutes I felt like a terrier in a tank chasing cats running around corners…
Net result round one: TLL 130 –125 TWL
Mashtuur City (TWL as MEC)
Dunno why but I kinda like being MEC, nice weaponry and oh yeah – you don’t have to listen to the US anthem when you win. We started out in good cheer and went all out for the southwest flag, met a lonesome inf with APC backup that died quickly. Seemed kinda surprised when my T-90 turned the corner. TLL got the northeast without contention and suddenly we had medieval warfare going on, shooting over the moat (the middle trench) at vaguely seen people. The APC and my tank began dueling as two beasts out of the dark ages, lobbing shots and retreating for repairs without much to show for our efforts.
Organize assault! The order was fast but sadly our reactions were confused, we didn’t make much headway until a lone spec ops (Febben again?) snuck up on the evil US main base. The newly dead arose in spawn on said leader but died gruesomely as the defending TLL APC shot them to pieces. I arrived too late to help the squad but in time to make a nice wreck of the six wheeler with a vengeful huzzah ringing in my ears. We began setting up to respawn in my turret but some nasty TLL had C4’ed me with 1 second to go on the spawn clock and so I got a nice good look at heavens gates before being sucked back to life in MEC main.
Spawning to find that hell awaited me! TLL had setup with not only tank at the northeast flag but also a cpl of AT’s, Nanna couldn’t even get her APC rolling before dying. There ought to have been another building screening the spawn…oh well, I died once trying to take the tank on the road, got fed up with it and respawned as assault, popped the smoke grenade before the tank had spawned, leapt in and blew more smoke making a 60% getaway. Assault kit in a tank, hmmm…oh well. I charged down, blew up a car on the parapet opposite that had been irritating as hell to Club Zebra and began wondering if we could do something more creative. Always wanted to learn to play the guitar…anyhow!
We made some sporadic attempts to take the northeast flag, putting a few rounds into the tank there and once knocking it out though we never really managed to shake TLL off the flag. We grayed it but they retook it, damn fine play. Kudos TLL!
Net result round two: TLL 148 – 98 TWL
Halftime morale were actually rather high, we had improved a lot since the pracc and while we didn’t win this one we fought rather nicely overall. There was an undertone of trepidation in Tubbe and myself as we didn’t know how good a pilot Conrom were as he’d replaced Hitman on the lineup. The helicopter is damn valuable on a map like Daqing.
Daqing Oilfields (TWL as US)
The price of gasoline is going up all over the world and there’s nothing that can make a car-loving American more mad, so we hade to seize some oilfields so the next generation would get to make out in the backseat like their fathers did. We rushed forwards, except the tank on sentry duty at the main, and valiantly captured the middle.
“Get to the stinger, the stinger, quick!” came the call from our birds of prey Club Zebra and Conrom who were having a hard time with TLL’s chopper (Bloonz?). The aerial war went TLL’s way with about a 4-1 kill ratio all through the round I think.
The middle was hotly contested, graying frequently and the com was alive with coordination and questions about who was still alive, it looked quite frantic when seen from the US main base where the tank was on sentry duty. About halfway through we lost the middle but we never stopped attacking it, life became troublesome in the main as TLL’s chopper strafed a few times in search of me and my little ol’ harmless tank. Dunno why he wasted the TV missiles on me, I hadn’t hurt a fly that round…
We tried a few times to go for the China main, with the tank still on sentry duty in main, Febben charging in as our ‘Bad Boy’ in whatever thingie with wheels he could find. TLL were too good at using the scan and calling the heli back to help chase our Bad Boy squad down. We only got close to the flag, graying once I think but never really threatened it.
Sentry duty wasn’t fun btw, just in case you didn’t get the message above. Clarity is commendable after all.
Net result round three: TLL 120 – 52 TWL
Daqing Oilfields (TWL as China)
Hmm, now this was not the plan. We’d lost the game and would be hard pushed to score a partial win on this map and for a while as we waited to respawn we threw out a few wild plans to do so but in the end we stuck to the preset tactic.
We sent out our car squads, aiming for TLL’s main which is the usual tactic, pretty much abandoning the middle but leaving the task of keeping the stinger inactive to me and the tank. The US main base were hotly contested for a while but we never managed to shake them loose from it.
The heliboyz had a even worse time of it this round, the TLL chopper reigned pretty supreme all out the round. So bad even that we switched a player into the gunnery seat to help relive the frustration of our heli team. It seemed for a while that I couldn’t move the tank without getting nailed by TV missiles. One time though I danced around like a cockroach while Bloonz did a three step tango on top – something like three or four passes before he got me, was kinda fun to tango with a heli in a tank.
After the first assaults on the main the pattern was set for our ground troops, drive off, get killed by chopper or the waiting guards in the TLL main – overall a fairly unexciting fourth round.
Net result round four: TLL 123 – 16 TWL
Ah, great play by The Lost Legion, very good. You had coordination where it counted and strong skills individually. Fair game play and nice attitude makes for a fun game – we’d play you any day though I suspect we need to pracc some more before we are able to give you a greater challenge! As for TWL, we did good but we know we can do better J
