Had a serious debate wether or not to write this, solely for our own pleasure but hey, what the he**. It’s fun to do anyhow even if there’s no real history behind the battlefield. It will not be very accurate on all points as overview of the battle is none too easy from a tank.
People began dropping onto the com early and eagerly, everybody was kinda expectant as this was to be our first real matchup in a league under the BF2 era! Amidst joking comments and laughter, the roll call was taken and we came up short? We started the tactical walkthrough, which went pretty fast, everybody kinda cheerfully accepting their task. The biggest discussion probably was squad teamup – who ought to be in which squad etc. Oh yeah, I got the tank and I got the oh-I-am-so-dead-by-tv-missile-depression too. Yay.
Sharqi Peninsula
We started off as the bad boy Americans defending our neighbourhood from the evul Deathbringers. Putting down c4 and at mines all along the front streets, especially the entry points up to the city. The mighty striped Zebra had TOW duty aswell, we were set.
Haz&Tony, our heliboyz, started out by killing the MEC chopper and keeping it down, killing it by TV missile as it spawned. Unsporting but effective. The first signs of attack came simultaneously at the front flag and the harbour flag. I arrived neatly in time from the TV tower in order to take out the first APC (already smoking) and took up position in the middle.
Cave and Franz (I think) were hardput upon in the harbour, aided first by our heliboyz and then myself by shooting a few rounds down at the flag. Meanwhile, DB’s tank and APC were trying to raise hell on the front but with little success as the defense held nicely. Once or twice I had to roll forward and put a few rounds down but we never really lost the front flag.
One time they broke through with a van, got through to the second flag and put a TOW shot into my tank – the wrath of panzer came down on them and all three offenders died to the boom of Abraham main gun. The flag was retaken.
Suddenly their commander seemed to recall that he had artillery because all of a sudden Zebra went flying without wings – right in front of me. Unhealthy spot to be, I geared up and moved down to the seaside for a picnic with Cave and Franz. Found a nice little parking space next to a supply crate and the newly taken MEC flag. Swarmed by infs and nasty little gits with AT guns, the flag turned grey a few times but the one time it was theirs we managed to hunt down the spawned ones.
I blew smoke and backed up into the middle again, the com was alive with reports and confused orders. The MEC had broken through with a van and taken the TV tower? Chaos reigned a few minutes as nobody except the helisquad and our commander reacted. The order to retake came so I (Stupid stupid stupid, what was I supposed to do there?) rolled over there only to be AT’ed from the roof within a minute.
The DB held on to the tower inspite of some nice infantry charges from our side, they got the tank rolling but died quickly. Finally Hazmupp seized the newly spawned tank and thus we had a ‘safe’ place to spawn close to the tower. We managed to squad up and charge the tower flag with four men and shazam – it was ours again!
Net result: twl 271 - 256 db
Sharqi Peninsula
MEC Time! As we intended a friendly crash-of-the-party we rolled into town but were met by inhospitable firearms all spewing bullets and rockets at us! How rude! So we punished them, killing a few at the front but dying nearly at once from FIVE anti-tank shots…sheesh, their entire frontline seemed to be made up with AT’s.
At it again. And again. After a couple of minutes Tubbe was heading out from the middle base on foot so I decided to brave the enemy TOW gun and follow. The barricades were mined but I did my imitation of Daring Dan driving on two wheels with my tank against the hillside and squeezed past to the second line flag. We managed to take it and I took position to calm things down a bit, holding the first cross street and killing any inf foolish to appear.
As the rest of the TWL infantry caught up and moved into the construction site I prowled around for the DB tank, found it and got cheated of a kill by tv-missiler Tony. Grrr…oh well, onwards to the next cross street. New defensive line established, got Provider to leap into the tank while I ran forwards and mined the only exit road from the TV tower compound (got a mine tank kill too). Climbed back into the tank, thanks Provider, and charged around killing AT’s while the construction flag was captured.
In a few moments more their tank appared, scared immobile by the one mine I had left remaining (?) which he could’ve gotten past easily but didn’t. Easy pickings. The TWL team was ready, rolling into and up towards the tower. Wham bam, thank you mam! Hunted down the last DB’s and we had our first Zero score for the enemy!

A nice couple of rounds though it felt kinda like DB hadn’t trained that much in teamwork, most attacks were a little bit uncoordinated and lacked punch. Not that we are the best of the best of the best (sir!) at that ourselves but as the scores say – we were better.
Daqing Oilfields
“Oncemore, onto the barricades dear friends...” As the evil Americans we charged out in buggies and choppers under cover from the jetboyz, gaining the Factory, middle flag outpost and Gas station in one sweep. Yay.
I rode the Factory tank into the middle and for a while there was a bit of tank vs tank action. Again and again, solo attacks that were taken out pretty easily…sometimes a jeep, sometimes a AA vehicle. Annoying but hardly more.
Then their attack chopper started trying to cap the factory flag, help calls came – I turned and saw a hovering chopper. Boom. No more chopper. That happened roughly four-five times in the match, their pilots were a little undertrained. Especially one that was charging at me straight on, boom. Wonder if Provider got a screenshot?
Racing back and forwards, tanks and choppers going for the factory and the west side of the middle flag but dying fruitlessly. Were there ever any infantry in range of flag capping in the middle?? There certainly were a lot of them at the factory, Febben and Franz (?) had a helluva time keeping the flag safe, frequently bombed on by artillery and sneaked upon by jeeps from the western flag.
We lost a few flags but never really felt threatened overall as we retook them fairly soon.
Net result: twl 336 - 213 db
Daqing Oilfields
The Chinese were curteous and friendly but lo and behold, the barbaric Americans had brought toys with them that weren’t allowed under the ethical code of the far east as a guest. But then again, what to expect from such…we brought out our own toys and rapidly took the north village, western flag and the middle.
DB’s attack heli had shaped up a bit and managed to grey the northern village but that merely ticked Club Zebra off – who aggressively stole the eastern gas station in return!
At some point during the match we only had the middle flag but we took a firm handle on things and shaped up, retaking all flags but the factory.
With a solid hold we bled tickets and killed some DB’s. Pretty unspectacular though I recall one moment of sneaking up on their AA vehicle, only to find myself being bypassed on the left side by their tank who ignored med and drove straight onward. Duh…he paid for that one. Speaking of their AA vehicle, someone needs to tell DB that if you attack a tank with a AA vehicle three times in a row and die then it prolly will not work a fourth time.
Net result: twl 322 - 183 db
Overall comment: We did good! Yay, first official league match won! A great big thanks to the commanders who were most excellent with supply cases everywhere and uav support! 12vs12 works beautifully it seems, no complains from anyone. Sweet. Thanks for playing TWL!
PS: Should any DB’ers chance upon the matchreport, don’t feel bad. Individually your skills were good but both as a team and aerialwise you need some more pracc. |

Taktikmötena kan bli lite lidande av detta, men vad göra? De som kommer senare kan få enkla roller i taktiken. |

Han med fjädern | Tänk dock på att jag blir väldigt besviken ifall det visar sig att folk som har anmält 1 eller 2 ggr per vecka och typ kommer att spela färre antal matcher än angivet.
Givetvis vet jag att även om man kan 1g/veckan så kommer det finnas någon gång man måste stå över, men ni vet vad jag menar...
