TWL vs HYPE
Acknowledgements
The last game of BF2 for TWL.
Over the year we have had a fair bit of fun playing this game but frankly we’ve grown really bored with the gameplay and the lack of new maps. So we stuck it out this season, basically just to have something to play together in a league for the challenge. We did not however feel enthusiastic enough to actually have pracc’s and we haven’t, something that have shown in our win-loss ratio no doubt. But we’re not complaining, we knew the teams in this division were tougher and hungrier by far than us and we’ve had a good time loosing 
For those of you who know us, we will miss you but hope to see you around in other circumstances (another league, a bigwar or some other occasion)! Take care, thanks for gaming against and with us in good sportsmanship, we wish you the very best of luck in future.

The game report
Strike at Karkand, TWL as US
The battleplan was ‘Convoy & Distraction’ and called for us to use a jeep as a trailbreaker in case of mines, followed by the APC where the driver would be the SQL. The tank (me) would attack the front and making sure that the enemy would be unable to leave the front unguarded, saving at least 2 AT shooters or risk loosing the front flags. The tanks primary mission however was to kill the enemy tank or at least damaging it so it’d either be damaged and unable to effectively engage the APC or enable our infantry to capture it.
The initial phase worked…a little bit. For some reason the jeep went one way, the APC another and the tank went a third. A shambles even before we started, general laughter ensued when to our amazement we actually got through with the APC all around to the back of the enemy main.
I drove into the city, getting hit a cpl of times by AT rockets and got off a single round on the enemy tank before I went hobnobbing with the Saints above.
Our infantry had a good couple of minutes in the enemy main, the APC was hard pressed by the tank that had returned home. On my second spawn I raced the tank down the right hand side street and for some reason got through with only 40% damage, turning the ramp at the bottom I spotted the Hype tank and nailed it. At the very same time the APC was blown to bits. Damn…I took up position next to the supply crate that our excellent commander had dropped to support the APC and prepared to harass the enemy rear.
Meanwhile, the our APC SQL took the opportunity to attack the front flag with his infantry squad but were unable to make any headway. I got blown up by a charge of AT shooters and enemy artillery only to rejoin my fellow armor colleague at the front of the city. The bleed was eating away at us steadily and we were stuck. Hype’s excellent AT shooters had us dead every time we ventured too close. After having tried a few different attack routes we charged the first flag again, nailed it and within 2 minutes we had the second flag. Rushing up with yet another tank I experienced that crazy bug that tosses a vehicle 20 meters up in the air, landing I took 15% damage and feeling a bit weirded out. With only 30 tickets left we attempted the death-leap with the armor from the square ramp but failed to coordinate this and died a fiery death. Hype snatched the chance, infantry milling up to recapture the square flag.
1st Round: Hype 126 – 0 TWL
Strike at Karkand, TWL as MEC
Onto the defence, our masterful plan called for three at shooters at the front, supported on the first flag by a cpl of medic/assaults, the infantry SQL acting as a reserve mobil spawnpoint on the highest roof as AT shooter by the Square. One inf would take the MEC jeep and act as mobile AT shooter and infantry suppressor. I, in the tank would head on up to the square and act as secondary defense line and pop forth for occasional shots. Our Commander laid down some mines and loaded his shotgun for the lonely vigil in our base.
Just about the entire Hype infantry team rushed down in one big unstoppable rush towards the first flag, their vehicles setting up on the left street. We squared off with a few shots but their coordination in keeping the vehicles together made it a difficult match. Fairly soon they had the first flag in control, we had managed to kill their vehicles once but pretty soon they rolled into the square for a beautiful take down.
We were down to our main, Hype infantry coming down the stairs or ramp by the square. Setting up jeeps at the ramp they managed to spray machinegun fire onto the areas below, their tank and APC on the west side above the flag dealing out free shots of lead to anyone peeking above the parapet.
I mined the back ramp and charged around the middle house in a frantic search for AT shooters or infantry heading for the flag. Three times I just managed to back into hiding as the tank began burning, you ain’t never driven a tank if you haven’t heard the crackle of fire in your engine compartment.
TWL infantry assembling to shoot the Hype armor to smithereens but also having to tackle Hypes charging infantry, coming from above they had a liking for the rooftops. The flag started to come down and with a cpl of handy nades the flag was once again on a upward gain.
With the constant AT pressure TWL put up, Hype armor was unable to gain ground and with me in the tank prowling the lower levels together with a couple of excellent assault TWL’s we held on against the US infantry!
2nd Round: Hype 125 vs 41 TWL
Halftime – TWL had a lot of trouble in the startup (Hype had a disco problem aswell, two were dropped and a pause was arranged) of the first two rounds and the trouble continued though it hit another player. Lizard was suddenly unable to connect to the game, so we decided to make do with only 7 players. We felt a bit reckless to say the least.
Dragon Valley, TWL as US
We are really predictable on this map, our plan is to go nearly all out for the Power Station and it has been for every single match.
True to our thinking we drove the armor and a jeep up there, keeping one infantry in Limbo awaiting to either spawn on the assaulting force or in defence of our main. Trouble began when the Hype Heli for some reason spent the first missile on our APC, ignoring our Heli completely. This caused a bit of a foul up as the jeep was abandoned by the driver, leaving a two vehicle que for me to drive around. Slowed down I was a sitting duck for the second TV missile (I had begun to wonder what our heli pilot was doing but in the midst of my respawn wait I heard the welcome sound of him hollering that the enemy heli was down).
We started again with APC and Tank, duking it out with our opposites while we fought off some invaders that tried to assault our base with sporadic jeep rushes. They held the village and the power station, the bleed was on.
We couldn’t make much headway up to the powerstation so after having wasted another ticket on assaulting the powerstation we decided to send the APC and the available infantry to attack the village. Leaving the tank on defence along with the commander.
Our helicopter was having a bad time against the enemies use of jeep machineguns and was more often downed by them then by the enemy heli I believe. We used our arty to keep theirs out of action as much as possible but sometimes it managed to get aloft and kill our armor with ease. On one such occasion when I awaited my tank to respawn I was hit by Hype APC fire from all the way up on the power station Cliffside. That’s a bit too close to pixelaiming for me – Hype, you may want to rethink doing things like that.
Returning to action I was a little maddened and spent the next four minutes shooting long distance shots at the tank coming down the road on the other side of the valley, managing to nail it just once. About the same time we had a brief possession of the village flag but Hype came down with a vengeance and we lost it in a hurry. Bleeding bad but realizing we had held on another round we were happy to be here.
3rd Round: Hype 116 – 32 TWL
Dragon Valley, TWL as Chinese
Same old, same old. Our spawns were lousy but we piled on towards the power station. Our armor got blown to bits before even laying our eyes on our opposition, aggravating to say the least. TV missiles are so irritating to armor drivers. This round the Hype pilot presented more of a challenge to ours but all in all I’d say they had a fifty-fifty kill ratio on eachother over the round.
Hype controlled the powerstation and village, bad bad news indeed. They were also sending up needling attacks by infantry around the back and into the spawn hangar for the APC, making it impossible for us to go on the attack.
The few times we actually manage to get out there we were taken down by their armor/APC/heli rapidly. Our infantry SQL never managed to get down to the village for long. About halfway through the round we faced a serious charge by the enemy. I had just taken a double hit and lost the tank, Hype rolled in and our APC valiantly damaged both the enemy vehicles, I respawned close by the TOW near the flag, leapt in and punched a hole in the APC just in time for our heli pilot to strafe down and take out the Hype tank aswell. Phew…
I got my tank back, took a hit at once and charged after the culprit. AT infs playing hide and seek behind the oilcisterns across from the flag, a little bit of splash damage and the enemy was dead. A brief repair before I got an eyeful of TV missile again.
The bleed had done it’s deed and we ran out of tickets. Still we had held our last flags all through both rounds with only 7 players. Perhaps Hype was being nice to us?
Hype 135 – 0 TWL.
Game: Hype 502 – 73 TWL
As closing words on the match, I’d like to congratulate Hype on the win, thank you for the patience with our connection problems and briefly point out that we did not like the www.free6.com remark. A bit of restrain on such comments in future perhaps?
I know I have said I’d never post a warreport on UN again but as this was TWL last game in BF2 I couldn’t resist leaving a little legacy of ours. Thank you for reading a biased view of a fictional game, based on the limited view from a tankers 4x2 window on reality.
