Well, here we are again. Report time. I’ve done quite a few by now, 12 so far logged on this latest version of Up-North and I’m feeling a little bit lost for inspiration to tell the truth. Last weeks match against NRW showed that fact easily as I couldn’t bring myself to write a fun report even though we had our moments, among other things our commander wondering on Zatar Wetlands “Should I drop a jeep in their main so they can come out and play?”. We had NRW nicely boxed on that map.
I keep wondering what a fun report is.
Get on with it – The warmup was a long series of delays as MOM had connection problems with one of their players. The game didn’t start until nearly 21 but we are a friendly bunch and only mildly growled as one of our players ran the risk of having to leave early, if the game would last extraordinarly late, for work.

Mashtuur City, TWL as MEC
The masterly and stunningly creative battle plan called for the entire force, but one lone inf, to assault the mosque in strength. The lone inf would take the jeep and harass the souther road construction flag while we got a grip on the much more defensible north flag.
Managed to ram a object and while cursing we realized that Nanna somehow had wound up on the other team?!? MOM cheerfully said they ‘could use him’ on their team and was a little embarrassed when we informed them ‘he’ was a ‘she’ as to their wording of ‘use’. A restart was agreed .
Again we raced forwards and this time I missed the object (that rail on the roadside when heading down in the trench from the MEC mainbase) and headed up the slope. Me and Tubbe (our apc driver) met a pack of AT shooters headon while the MOM tank huddled in the plaza on the other side of the mosque building, taking shots occasionally. We managed to clear the AT infs out, though MOM actually got the flag and took me and my tank out we still had the APC and some infs on hand, following the plan beautifully they had cleared the building and rooftop first and then taken the flag.
The defense was setup, mines laid and the bastion Lan & Klammer were established around the mosque. Meanwhile Tubbe sped on down to the construction site, blazed all the way across the trench and smacked the MOM tanks rear end on the plaza. I had previously traded shots with him and popped out again, took a shot at the APC I saw and realized as the shot was in the air…aaaaargh, I had nailed our own APC. Bloody hells bells.
Klammer and me fought off some small attempts to sally forth but mainly MOM was kept busy by Flamingos infantry squad along with the newly respawned APC. Very soon they managed to infiltrate MOM’s main and steal their tank, unfortunately the US troopers weren’t that asleep and nailed Klammer with a couple of longdistance AT shots. Darn. We did however manage to sneak off a minute later with their APC and very shortly had the flag grey!
TWL 164 – 0 MOM

With the happy cheers still ringing we ran, rolled and bounced forth to the mosque, leaving the same lone inf backed up by our APC to take the southern road construction flag.
At the mosque I turned the last corner with the tank and got to see the MEC APC nosing up out of the trench, fired a shot and rolled back in wait for the main gun to reload. Over the little boardfence I could se the top of the APC turret as it started to back away, I charged forwards again, gun reloaded and had the shock of my life as 4 (!!!) AT shooters had spawned off the APC! By pure luck I was the first to react and nailed two with a splash damage shot against a nearby wall, the other two fired but must have hit badly as I was barely reduced to fifty percent health. Back-pedalling for all I was worth, one of the AT shooters getting caught in the track and dragged along, the second one getting a shot off before my machinegun brought him down., the one being dragged reloaded and I could feel the icy chill as the discarded AT shot was dropped with a clatter to the ground. I slewed around and managed to get a wall behind the AT inf and with another splash damage I took him out aswell but simultaneously was hit by a long distance AT shot from their main. Burning I leaped out, repaired a single ‘point’ and reversed into hiding. Phew…safe.
We were not content here, nooo no. The infantry begun pressing forwards, the APC helping our southern flag and nosing towards the MEC main aswell. From the north flag I took shots at whichever vehicle spawned within sight in MOM’s main. We attempted a few times to steal them but it didn’t pay off as their AT’s made quick work of the large targets. One time they did a breakout attempt but we were fast to respond and their push towards the road construction failed. At the end we ran out of time and tickets, we never capped their last flag fully even though we had it grey for a while MOM recapped it. The bleed was the real killer here and this round we had him on our side, weee…
TWL 142 – 0 MOM
Halftime is looking very nice, feeling confident and strong. MOM hade made some unusal choices in separating their tank and APC, supported by inf AT’s and this showed that we might see some unconventional thinking here next round.
Songhua, TWL as China
Sigh, I really don’t like this map. Once the heli’s are in place high above in the peasoup it’s impossible to bring it down…so…let’s kill it before it gets there! Klammer had the unenviable task of harassing their helipad, I’d arty it as commander and our heli & inf SQL Dogie had the secondary duty of kamikazing it and APC’s if the situation called for it, tertiary duty was to drop infs on any flag we felt should be assaulted. The two APC’s headed for the village (north flag) along with Fstrid as AT support while Flamingo and Nanna had a nookie time in limbo. Or something anyhow.
The north flag was ours without much trouble, initially we didn’t care much about temple. The US heli were brought down, Klammer raising bloody hell and Dogie swooping by and dropping both Nanna and Flamingo down. Despite some merry dancing, MOM showed us whose boss and we had to restart our inf squad efforts.
Retasked we took on the south flag, the temple. After a hellish defense by MOM over half of the entire round we nailed it and enjoyed a bleed on MOM for the remainder of the round. We saw a few parajumps into our main but overall our strategy of harassing the heli had paid off. We were able to concentrate more out in the field and only once did we recall by suicide into our main.
TWL 122 – 75 MOM
Songhua, TWL as US
After a quick strategical council in the startup phase we changed our plans a bit, the APC’s were now tasked to take the north flag and then rush the Chinese main. The infantry were to support this push by helidrop if Dogie as helipilot SQL was still up in the air.
Which he was not, so the infantry force spawned up on the north flag and charged the Chinese main by jeep instead. The first attack failed but as we managed to launch a second wave, we stole a newly spawned APC and with three vehicles the flag came down. Meantime MOM had capped the north village but we had a infantry presence there to keep them from getting organised and very soon our APC’s returned to the north village.
With the north village under assault from our two APC's we soon had the flag back in our hands, we then had the interesting task of charging the Temple flag where MOM seemed to have spawned all out AT infantry. A few failed attempts nearly lost us the north village flag, their infantry in the woods above the flag. They also tried to swim/drop a boat to retake their main but to little avail as Fstrid and Dogie had a good grip on things.
After a few minutes MOM had diluted their strength too badly by going for their former main, the north flag and defending the temple to resist as our APC’s rolled in, TWL inf dropped from the sky and the flag was ours!

Thank you MOM for a very enjoyable fight, you made some creative choices in how to spend your forces and we were very nervous about the split you did on Mashtuur with each armour heading out separately. Hope to see you at pracc night!
